Tribute to Chris George, 1947 - 2026

Chris was a good friend and always had a smile on his face. He was always supportive when we were headteachers together in south Lincolnshire and we had some great times together on residential trips. Best wishes to Mu.

He taught me to play the guitar at Staniland. I have never forgotten him, what he gave me was a gift that has lasted all my life.

I remember Mr George bringing his lovely Fiat X19 to Staniland Mcnight in Boston back in late 70's to 81. Always a smile and a great teacher.

Chris & Mu were our first friends when we moved to Lincs and we shared many good times working on our respective houses, playing darts, camping in Scotland where the midges decided that Chris was particularly tasty! He generously built me two guitars only charging for the materials. Later I was privileged to be in the Chalky White band with him where his superior musicianship was very evident. Chris was so good at everything he did whether it was playing and building guitars or being an exceptional Headteacher, and yet he carried it all with unassuming modesty,being always considerate and kind. The many guitars now in the hands of others are a lasting legacy to his memory. A 'top bloke ' indeed.

It is with deep sadness that I am informing you of the death of Chris George, who passed away at home on 3rd June following a struggle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a cruel neurological condition which he battled with for over three years.He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife, friends, family and musicians alike. Chris led a very fulll life as a teacher, headteacher and guitar builder and he has left an amazing legacy with the beautiful guitars he made for friends and musicians. Chris’ funeral will be private.
